Member Spotlight: Beth Tousek
Beth joined The Combine in May 2013 and registered for her first CrossFit competition a month later. She’s a silent, but deadly force in class, yet one of the most sweet and humble young ladies around. Her olympic lifting has greatly improved and she’s made huge strides over the last six months. It was especially exciting watching her get her first strict pull-up recently. She’s also an awesome transformation story that demonstrates how women can restructure their physiques!

How did you discover [CSC] CrossFit?
Eventually, I found myself bored with the monotonous routines at the gym. My now fiance, Adam Cantu, encouraged me to try CrossFit. I was hesitant at first, but after a couple of WODs, I was hooked! We decided to look around for CrossFit boxes and found The Combine. Ultimately, we joined because the programming and the coaches were unlike any other gym.
What do you like most about CrossFit?
CrossFit challenges me daily both physically and mentally. My body composition has changed pretty significantly. It was never really about the scale for me; however, I’ve lost about 12 pounds of fat, added five pounds of muscle and dropped a little over 7% body fat overall! The clothes I wore when I first started CrossFit no longer fit! Furthermore, it’s been a driving force to create better eating habits knowing that I cannot eat junk and expect to perform well. It also serves as a much needed stress reliever after a tough day at work during the week.
Who inspires/motivates you?
The community at The Combine inspires and motivates me each time I walk through the door. I have made many great friends and everyone is very positive and encouraging throughout the workouts. The friendly and competitive atmosphere really pushes me to give it my all.
What fitness goal(s) would you like to achieve in 2015?
I want to back squat over 200# and get more than one strict pull-up linked together. Moreover, I want to continue to build lean muscle and become more proficient in many of the movements. I would also like to do another competition. Plus, I have a wedding in early June to prepare to look my best for!
