"I lost 30 pounds within two months of starting CrossFit"

Daniel began CrossFit at The Combine less than a year ago, starting in October 2014, and has made fantastic changes to his health and fitness. About two months into his CrossFit career, he found himself 20 pounds lighter and was able to make a 2,100 foot vertical hike in Colorado Springs look easy and feel comfortable, a hike that Daniel says “almost killed me” six months prior. Crossfit has given me the opportunity to PR in just about everything. This is the first time I've been able to do a pull-up, jump rope and lift in my life. I lost 30 pounds within two months of starting CrossFit with the help of the Paleo diet and my new highly active lifestyle,” he says.

 Through Daniel’s hard work and discipline with his nutrition, he has reduced his body fat by just over 10%!

Daniel has been such a fun athlete to coach. His dedication to being better than he was the day before in and outside of class with his diet and recovery is unrivaled. He is always attentive in class and his quiet enthusiasm isn't overlooked from his classmates and coaches.The physical transformation with his weight loss, strength, and increased energy has been awesome. One of my favorite quotes is "Hard work beats talent, when talent doesn't work hard." I'm not saying Daniel doesn't have talent, but I don't know many people who work harder and are more committed than he is in the gym. It's no coincidence he's seen such remarkable results in a relatively short amount of time.” Coach Robert

  1. What fitness goal(s) would you like to achieve in 2015? I would like to master some of the more complex skills such as muscle-ups and double-unders.

  2. Name something we would be surprised to know about you. I have travelled to over 26 countries and plan to work abroad again one day.

  3. What "ah ha" moments have you had in CrossFit? I have had lots of “ah ha” moments. Every time I master a skill or movement. I experience that feeling, and it’s great!

  4. What fitness accomplishment are you most proud of? Losing 30 pounds right at the beginning with Crossfit and a Paleo diet; my overall advancements over these past 10 months; and recently, my strength gains, including a 285# back squat, a 215# front squat and 210# bench press.

  5. Name your three favorite CrossFit movements or lifts. Kipping pull-ups, double-unders and power snatches. All these movements are still a major challenge for me and my primary focus.
