"I love when Treasure is in my class because she brings an energy that elevates the class to another level; she's always ready and willing to work hard. Her silent strength and determination is visible in the progress she has made since she's been at the Combine. Get to know Treasure with the following Q&A:
How did you discover The Combine?
I would pass The Combine [CSC] anytime I drove into Austin and think, wow that place looks so cool. I'd see people working out from time to time and my husband and I decided to stop in for a visit and see what it was all about. We signed up for a couples membership and I started attending the Women's Only Bootcamp 3x's a week. Most recently I've added CF 3x's a week.
Who/what inspires/motivates you or why do you workout?
My husband inspires me. I've seen all the things he has overcome and how hard he works; it makes me want to work harder and push myself. I started working out to lose weight. I'd see these strong beautiful women around the gym and thought, I could never be one of them. My eating was so totally off and decided I really needed to dig deep and make a change. I started seeing a nutritionist in January of this year. I also started doing personal training with Gina and learned so much from her. It was hard at first but I stuck with it and with help from Gina, I set goals. I was able to do more and push myself harder, lift heavier, move faster and reach the goals I had set for myself. The one thing that inspires me the most is seeing strong women workout. I've learned a lot from so many ladies who've offered advice. It's pretty incredible to be working out side by side with people who are supportive and care about each other and their goals.
What "ah ha" moments have you had in CrossFit?
Once I started seeing results and losing weight it stopped being all about weight loss, and I stopped focusing on the number on the scale. I'd say that was my "ah ha" moment. It was a huge deal for me to be at a certain weight and once I let that go, I've been able to just be happy where I am. The scale is just a number. I'm 25lbs heavier than I was before kids and I'm ok with that. I'm happy, healthy, and can do more now than I ever thought I'd be able to.
What fitness accomplishment are you most proud of?
Well, there are so many things to work on. My biggest goal was to do strict pull-ups. I finally got there. But my list keeps growing... HSPU, Pistols, HS Walks... Once you conquer one goal, it's time to set another one.
What has your participation at The Combine done for you physically, mentally and/or emotionally?
Physically: My body has completely changed, I'm stronger than I was before. Mentally: The Combine has changed my way of thinking from, "I'll never be able to do that" to "I'm going to do that one day". It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to eat right and workout. I spend most every night watching videos and reading about skills and moves I'd like to be able to do.
Emotionally: It's been a huge stress reliever for me. I get that one hour a day to just let go of any stress I have going on in my life and just clear my head. I am a better mom and wife when I workout.
When you are not working out, how do you spend your free time?
I'm a mom so I spend most of my time chasing kids. I also own a reclaimed furniture business; I spend a lot of time in my shop building furniture. Also, I love animals and we have a small farm. My kids and I love to go horseback riding.
